Alícia Homs asks the Commission for synergies between youth employment policies and other European initiatives such as the Green Deal

Socialist MEP Alícia Homs, a member of the European Parliament's Employment Committee, has asked the European Commission for synergies between youth employment policies and other European initiatives, such as the European Pillar of Social Rights, the Green Deal or the Minimum Wage Initiative, to offer quality opportunities to young people, in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

In a written question addressed to the Commission, Homs recalled that the financial crisis of 2008 "established job insecurity among young people that remains today and that will be accentuated by the pandemic." "The pandemic has shown that, while young workers are more resistant to the virus than other age groups, we are more vulnerable to the social and economic impact," the MEP has warned.

For this reason, on the occasion of the launch of the new proposal for the Youth Guarantee of the Commission, Homs has claimed to facilitate the relationship between education and training, and access to the labor market "so as not to leave a generation behind", as happened in the previous crisis.
